Off to bed young lady!

When you were a child and a teenager one of the worst things was when you got sent to bed early. You would come up with every excuse under the sun to not go: I'm not tired, i'm thirsty, i'm hungry, I don't like the dark, it's too light to go to bed. The list goes on and on. Some of these are genuine excuses my 5 year old has tried on me in recent months. You always felt you were missing out on something. You never knew what the something was but this is where your FOMO probably started. Or was that just me?

When I was in my late teens and early 20's bedtime was something that happened at 3am or 6am some nights, you felt like you were invincible. I could go out partying all night then go straight to lectures and my part time job and back out partying again that night on just a cat nap. These days if I am in bed after midnight I'm still playing sleep catch up for 2 days after.

No one tells you that when you become an adult and you have to adult it is tiring and you feel like you can never get enough sleep. We've all been there thinking about getting an early night, heading to bed at 9pm. One quick look at your Instagram before you retire for the evening. You blink and it is an hour later and you are two years deep into the Instagram account of the 2017's Love Island winner's ex girlfriend  FFS! You realise you didn't put the bins out and tomorrow is bin day. Do you get out of bed to drag the bins round or think fuck it I'm sure it will be fine for another 2 weeks til the bin man is back? Adulting FML.

The threats you received as a teenager of being sent to bed early and not being able to go out is now something you strive for in life.

Adulting is a tiring business whether you have kids or not having to figure what to have for dinner every night is exhausting alone.
